His first novel, The Room on the Roof, was written when he was just seventeen years old and went on to win the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize. Over the years, he has written hundreds of short stories, essays, novellas, memoirs, and children’s books, becoming one of India’s most beloved authors. He has also received prestigious honors, including the Sahitya Akademi Award, Padma Shri, and Padma Bhushan.
One of the reasons Ruskin Bond’s books remain so popular is the incredible variety in his writing.
