Hi, I’m Nidhi, the heart behind Indian Fables and Musings.

What started as a simple, personal search for South Asian books for my son slowly grew into something much bigger. Like many parents raising children outside India, I found myself looking for stories that felt familiar. Stories that reflected our culture, our festivals, our languages, and the little nuances of growing up Indian.

But it wasn’t always easy to find them.

What began as a few books here and there turned into hours of searching, discovering, and collecting. And somewhere along the way, I realized something important, I wasn’t the only one looking.

So many parents around me were asking the same questions:

Where do I find good South Asian books for my kids?

How do I teach them about our culture in a way that feels natural and engaging?

How do I make sure they grow up connected to their roots, even while living far from home?

That’s how Indian Fables and Musings came to life.

This space is built for parents like you, parents who care deeply about passing on culture, but are also navigating busy lives. I know how overwhelming it can feel to “do it all,” and this isn’t about doing things perfectly. It’s about small, meaningful steps. A book at bedtime. A story that sparks a question. A moment that leads to a conversation.

Over time, this platform has grown into a curated collection of South Asian books for children of all ages. From board books and picture books to early readers and chapter books, everything you’ll find here has been thoughtfully selected to help you build a home filled with stories that matter.

But it’s not just about books.

It’s about creating a sense of belonging for our children.

It’s about helping them see themselves in the stories they read.

It’s about giving them the language, the context, and the confidence to understand where they come from.

And it’s also about making it easier for you.

Because let’s be honest, you don’t always have the time to research, compare, and figure out what’s worth buying. That’s where I step in. Everything you see here is something I would pick for my own kids. Simple as that.

On this page, you’ll find all the ways you can explore and connect with Indian Fables and Musings:

And if you’re ever unsure where to begin, start small.

Pick one book. Read it together. See where it leads.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not about how much you do, it’s about the moments you create along the way.

I’m so glad you’re here. 🤍
